SGP Interlayer Film: Crossing Oceans to Continue Its Glorious Journey in China
Date:2025-08-26
SGP interlayer film was first developed and produced by DuPont of the United States. According to relevant data, in the 1960s, DuPont developed SGP interlayer film to resist the repeated impact of gravel carried by hurricanes on curtain wall glass in the coastal areas of the southern United States. The first ionic film launched was named SentryGlas Plus. Later, when it was introduced into China, its initials were used to call it "SGP" for the convenience of promotion. Subsequently, this product was taken over and developed by Kuraray, and is now officially renamed uniformly as SG™ with the completion of U.S. trademark registration.
In China, the development of SGP interlayer film began in 2013, when a core R&D team was established to start the material R&D of ionic interlayer films and the planning of factory construction. Since then, a number of Chinese enterprises have overcome key technologies and achieved mass production of SGP interlayer film. Anhui Angle Technology Co., Ltd. is one of the companies with mature SGP interlayer film technology.
